Our pastor, Rev. Heather Prince Doss, came to Eliot Church in October, 2015. Before that, she served for seven years as the Associate Pastor at Sea Island Presbyterian Church located in Beaufort, South Carolina. Preaching is one of her particular strengths; she has also developed curriculum for youth confirmation class, family faith formation, new member workshops, as well as a lectionary-based adult Sunday school class.

Pastor Heather has passion for other cultures and working among diverse populations, especially those who are disadvantaged. She has worked with homeless populations in South Carolina and Washington D.C. She also served as a seminary intern for the Presbyterian United Nations Office (2004-2006) and in summer of 2005 served as a pastoral intern for the JL Zwane Presbyterian Church and Centre located in Guguletu, South Africa.

Building relationships with external communities also represents a great strength of Pastor Heather. Before coming to Eliot Church, Heather served on the Executive Committee for the Community Services Organization. She describes the CSO as, “a coalition of government agencies, non-profits, and faith-based organizations working together to improve the lives of the needy in Beaufort County.” Heather also served as the vice-chair of the local Habitat for Humanity board of directors.

In addition to serving Eliot Church, Pastor Heather is also the owner of Progressive Pilgrimage, a company that organizes group travel to the Holy Land that deepens faith, stimulates the intellect, and builds cross-cultural relationships. Heather leads up to four tours each year and provides groups with the educational spiritual resources they need to make the most of their Holy Land pilgrimage.

When not serving the church or leading tours, Heather and her husband, Eric, love to travel in their vintage motorhome and experience the outdoors hiking with their dog, Wallace. They also love to celebrate with good food and listen to great music.
