St. Paul's Kitchen

Community TableSt. Paul's Kitchen was started 11 years ago by Rose Bronk, a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. When St. Paul's closed last year, Eliot took over as the host church.

Forty to one hundred homeless and disadvantaged people come for a hot meal every weekday evening, Monday through Friday, 52 weeks a year (rain or shine). Food is served from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Several area Protestant churches take turns preparing and serving the meals and help from other churches is welcome!

Lowell Transitional Center / The Shelter

Middlesex ShelterOur neighbor, the Lowell Transitional Living Center, is a community supported, non-profit organization that provides a safe, temporary shelter for homeless men and women in the Greater Lowell area. Eliot supports the shelter with monthly donations of toiletries, socks, and food. We welcome guests who stop by for an evening meal, a cup of Sunday morning coffee, or to attend our worship service.

Community Table

Eliot serves at Commuity TableThe Community Table serves a free hot lunch at the YMCA on Thorndike Street each weekend:

  • Saturday 1:30-4:00 p.m.
  • Sunday 1:30- 3.30 p.m.

Typically, about 50 people enjoy a meal and good company and leave with take-home snacks.

The Community Pantry Community Table is an interfaith project.

Eliot hosts the Community Table every six weeks. We meet at the Eliot kitchen at 10:30 a.m. to prepare the meal and then serve at the YMCA.

Donkoh-Halm Project

Through this project, the school receives assistance in the form of books and classroom supplies. More important — children in the community whose families are unable to afford to send them to school receive scholarships, books, uniforms, and encouragement.

Thanksgiving Dinner

serving line for Thanksgiving dinnerThe Lowell Sun calls this annual event, now in its second decade, "a massive effort" that feeds hundreds of people who come due to homelessness, having no family nearby, financial hardship, or just the desire to be in a church setting, where they are comfortable, on Thanksgiving Day.

Thanks to our guests and volunteers for (once again) making Thanksgiving Day a blessing at Eliot!
